California's Behavioral Health System Should Be Modernized, and There Should Be More Mental Health Housing, Says Governor Newsom

Washington, D.C. Even in politically polarized Washington, fictional soccer coach Ted Lasso visited the White House on Monday to urge citizens to make it a point to regularly check in with friends, family, and coworkers to "ask how they're doing, and listen, truly."

In order to discuss how mental health affects overall well-being, President Joe Biden and their first wife Jill Biden met with comedian Jason Sudeikis, who portrays the title character, an American coaching a soccer club in London.

When he assisted press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre in starting her daily White House briefing, Sudeikis reminded reporters from behind the podium that the topic of the performance is mental health and taking care of one another. The third season of the Emmy-winning, heartwarming Apple TV+ program has officially begun.

We also need to understand that we shouldn't be ashamed to seek help ourselves, despite the fact that it's easier said than done, Sudeikis said. "It does take a lot, especially when it's something like mental health that doesn't have to carry such a bad reputation.

Its bipartisan "unity agenda" of Biden includes mental health. Additionally, he has urged lawmakers to allocate more funds to combating what some consider to be a crisis. Also, the administration has increased funds to support a new 988 crisis and suicide line and to send additional mental health specialists to schools.

Everyone knows someone who has needed a shoulder to cry on or has been that person themselves, according to Sudeikis, so asking for assistance shouldn't carry any stigma.

"We all undoubtedly, I assume, know someone who has, or has really been that someone ourselves, who has suffered, who has been alienated, who has felt anxious, who has felt alone," he continued. "No matter who you are, no matter where you live, no matter who you voted for.

Believe it or not, it's actually one of many characteristics that humans share, according to Sudeikis. That implies that when we're feeling that way or when we notice that someone else is feeling that way, it's something that we can all, you know, and should talk about with one another.

He made a special plea to residents of the capital.

Sudeikis said, "I know a lot of people in this community don't always agree, right, and don't always feel heard, seen, listened to. Yet I firmly believe that we should all try to look out for one another. That is what I personally think. Everyone there on stage, in my opinion, believes in that.

According to the White House, the Bidens have seen some of "Ted Lasso" and are aware of its messages of kindness and hope.

Cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Toheeb Jimoh attended the daily briefing with Sudeikis.

The most recent entertainers to visit the White House and support causes the Democratic president and first lady are bringing attention to are Sudeikis and his cast colleagues.

During the epidemic, singer Olivia Rodrigo made a trip to support the campaign to get young people like herself immunized against COVID-19. The well-known Korean boy band BTS actively promoted Asian inclusiveness and worked to eliminate prejudice against Asian Americans.

After a tragedy that left 19 children and two teachers dead at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, actor Matthew McConaughey passionately argued for more gun control measures.

Mary J. Blige and Selena Gomez, two singers/actors, took part in separate events with Jill Biden that were centered on cancer awareness and young people's mental health, respectively.
