WWE WrestleMania 2023: Rollins vs. Paul and Bouts That'll Exceed Expectations

With WrestleMania being a two-night event for the fourth consecutive year, this year's edition at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on April 1-2 is shaping up to be a stacked show.

WWE head of creative Triple H has put together a card capable of packing plenty of action into two nights, but there are still a few matches that are perhaps getting slept on by fans.

Bouts such as Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Bianca Belair vs. Asuka are expected to tear the house down and likely will, but some matches that have become afterthoughts could come close to reaching that level as well.

With WrestleMania 39 edging closer, here's a look at three under-the-radar contests that figure to exceed expectations on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Seth Rollins vs. Logan Paul

Logan Paul has just four career matches under his belt, but he has gotten acclimated to pro wrestling more quickly than anyone in recent memory.

The social media star made his in-ring debut at last year's WrestleMania, teaming with The Miz, and has since taken on The A-Lister and Roman Reigns in singles matches in addition to competing in the 2023 men's Royal Rumble match.

Paul is still learning the finer points of the sport, but he has brought the wow factor to every match he has had and made a habit of exceeding expectations.

Despite that, it still feels like at least a portion of the WWE fanbase hasn't fully embraced the 27-year-old and continues to discount his ability. At WrestleMania 39, he has a chance to silence his detractors for good.

It can be argued Rollins will be his best dance partner yet, meaning Paul may be poised to have the greatest match of his young career thus far.

WWE has done a solid job building the rivalry between them, with the YouTuber eliminating Rollins from the men's Rumble match and then costing him a chance to win the United States Championship at Elimination Chamber.

That heat, coupled with the in-ring and athletic ability of both Paul and The Visionary, should make for a winning formula in terms of putting on a great match.

Rollins always tends to deliver at The Showcase of the Immortals, and that makes him the perfect choice to ensure Paul continues to thrive as well.

Brock Lesnar vs. Omos

Brock Lesnar is used to being in or around the main event at WrestleMania, but that won't be the case this year.

After headlining WrestleMania 38 against Roman Reigns, The Beast Incarnate will be significantly lower on the card this year when he clashes with the 7'3" Omos.

The match came out of nowhere, as Lesnar had been feuding with Bobby Lashley and lost to him by disqualification at Elimination Chamber when he hit The All Mighty with a low blow.

That led to speculation of a rematch at WrestleMania or a match against Bray Wyatt, who called out both Lesnar and Lashley in February.

Instead, MVP called out Lesnar on Omos' behalf, and The Beast agreed to face perhaps the biggest opponent of his career.

Omos is often criticized by fans and compared to past huge competitors such as Giant Gonzales or Great Khali, but it isn't necessarily a fair narrative since he is far more athletic than either of them were.

The Nigerian Giant can hold his own in shorter matches, and he proved as much at Crown Jewel in November when he and Braun Strowman went blow-for-blow in a fun big-man match.

Lesnar vs. Omos can be similar to that, and it will be an inoffensive part of the 'Mania card since it isn't likely to drag on for long.

The two men can give the live crowd five minutes of hard-hitting action, and the visual of Lesnar hitting Omos with an F-5 will be memorable for those who witness it.

John Cena vs. Austin Theory

For the first time since WrestleMania 36, John Cena is set to compete at the biggest show of the year, and he will do it against an up-and-coming star in Austin Theory.

Theory has been compared to a young Cena, and WWE will put that to the test when he takes on the 16-time world champion in the biggest match of his career.

Over the past several months, the 25-year-old has taken sporadic shots at Cena and claimed he was superior to the legendary Superstar.

There was some thought that WWE was moving away from Theory's massive push when he lost his Money in the Bank cash-in, but it was merely a refocus on the company's part, and it can be argued that The Now has been better than ever since then.

As strong as he has been as a heel and in the ring, Theory doesn't always receive the type of credit he deserves. Because of that, there tends to be a narrative at times that he isn't a future top star.

Based on his skill set and performances, though, he is very much on the ascent toward greatness, and a match against Cena will help take him to the next level.

Even with everything the WWE icon has accomplished, he is underestimated at times as well, but with the right opponent, he is adept in the ring in his own right.

Fans may not be expecting much out of the match, especially since Cena only wrestles occasionally these days, but it is a huge opportunity for Theory, and both of them should be up to the task of elevating the two-time U.S. champion.
